During 2005 the Institute of Statistics of Andalusia has carried out the Family Network Survey (ERF) that fills the information gap for Andalusia and its provinces, presenting here the first preliminary results. It offers data on relationships, size and socio-demographic characteristics of the family network and the relations established within it, the need of help and care, and finally on the carers.
Not only does it provide unpublished information on the Andalusian society, it also makes the design of indicators and data collection methods possible that will, in the near future, regularly disseminate data on a very present reality in the life of many citizens, but up to now practically absent from official statistics.
